The City of Peoria's Social Services Unit (SSU) is looking for passionate individuals to join our mission of promoting safer encounters between citizens in need of crisis services and police personnel. This is your chance to provide essential support and connect individuals with the mental health and substance use services they need to thrive.

As a key member of our team, you will:

• Provide crisis intervention services, assessments, evaluations, and stabilization in a community-based environment.
• Collaborate closely with the Peoria Police Department to deliver mobile mental and behavioral health services.
• Supervise Licensed Social Workers and Licensed Clinical Social Workers, ensuring clinical oversight and ongoing support.
• Engage in field responses multiple times a day, making a real impact in the lives of citizens across Peoria, Illinois.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Proof of Auto Insurance
  • Driver’s License - Secretary of State (SOS)
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (Required)
• Experience: At least 3 years of related experience preferred
• Skills:
  • Ability to work with diverse age groups
  • Basic computer skills for documentation
  • Effective communication and de-escalation techniques
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality

Your day-to-day will include:

• Listening actively to clients and using motivational interviewing skills to ensure safety.
• Making clinically safe and logical decisions during crisis situations.
• Collaborating with law enforcement and emergency personnel during crises.
• Providing follow-up case management and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Offering direct counseling and case management to individuals and families.

The compensation range for this position is $27.36 - $45.69 per hour . This range reflects our commitment to fair compensation based on experience, qualifications, and other factors. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package to support our team members.
