Job Description

At Burwell Material Handling, we're all about people - our team, our customers, and the communities we serve. What started as C & B Material Handling has grown into Burwell because of the people behind it. Every employee, every connection, and every customer relationship helped shape who we are today. We've built our reputation by delivering reliable equipment solutions, automation systems, and industrial sales and rentals with a personal touch-and we're proud of the team that makes it all happen.

We're growing, and we're looking for forward-thinking, motivated teammates who want to help build something meaningful-where your contributions count, and your voice is heard.

About the Role:

Still love solving mechanical issues, but ready to skip the heat, cold, and travel? We're hiring a Forklift Technical Communicator in Sioux Falls, SD, joining our Burwell Material Handling team in the brand-new downtown Steel District building. In this role, you'll support our field service techs and frontline leaders by remotely diagnosing tough equipment issues-no wrench turning, just problem-solving, guiding, and making a real impact behind the scenes. If you're a tech with strong mechanical skills who's ready to take the next step in your career, we want to hear from you!

What You'll Do:
  • Serve as a go-to resource for service technicians, service managers, and parts leads, assisting with diagnosing and resolving complex forklift-related issues, including engines, hydraulics, drivetrains, and electrical systems
  • Respond to customer service inquiries and provide accurate technical guidance to ensure satisfaction
  • Troubleshoot issues through phone, text, email, or chat in collaboration with technicians and OEM support teams
  • Analyze machine dashboard data and share insights to drive service and parts opportunities
  • Maintain strong documentation of technical cases and communications
  • Stay current on forklift technology, OEM schematics, and industry standards
  • Manage multiple cases with efficiency while fostering positive working relationships
Skills & Experience We're Looking For:
  • In-depth technical experience with forklifts and material handling systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain complex technical issues clearly
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM or Microsoft AI tools is a plus
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required; Associate's degree or relevant technical certifications preferred
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, reach, push, and pull as needed
Benefits:
All offers are contingent on passing a pre-employment drug test and background check. Burwell Material Handling is a drug-free workplace.
  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Excellent benefits starting day one - Medical, Dental, Vision, Accident, Short-Term Disability, Life Insurance, and 401K with Company Match
  • Progressive Paid Time Off and Holidays - starting with 3 weeks PTO in your first year
  • Paid parental leave for moms and dads
  • Opportunities for growth and internal promotion
  • Annual Community Impact Day - paid volunteer time in the places we work and live

Our goal is to improve the quality of work life by using fair and consistent treatment and providing equal growth opportunities for all team members. We are an equal opportunity employer as defined by federal, state, or local laws.

If you're looking to build a meaningful career, we're excited to support your goals and help you grow with us.
